Le Moulin Rouge is a Parisian cabaret inaugurated in 1889 by the Catalan Joseph Oller and Charles Zidler, who already owned the Olympia. It is located on Boulevard de Clichy in the 18th arrondissement, a few steps from our hotel.

The Sacré-Cœur Basilica, said to symbolise a “national Vow,” situated atop Montmartre, is one of Paris’s top religious buildings. With more than ten million pilgrims and visitors every year, it is France’s second most popular monument after Notre Dame Cathedral.

The hill that Montmartre is built upon is the highest point in Paris (130 m), in the northern part of the capital. It is one of the most-visited places in Paris. In the 19th and 2oth centuries, Montmartre was a mecca for painting, attracting artists such as Pissarro, Toulouse-Lautrec, Steinlen, Van Gogh, Modigliani, Picasso, etc.

Of the Butte de Montmartre’s original fourteen windmills, only two remain today, just above the restaurant, at the very spot where Renoir painted his masterpiece: “Le Moulin De La Galette.”

Le Lapin Agile is Paris’s oldest cabaret. A tiny building situated on top of the butte Montmartre, it was saved from demolition by Aristide Bruant, around 1913.

The vineyard was planted here in 1932 and covers an area of 1,556 m². The garden planted in vine stocks can be visited on request. The Montmartre grapes are harvested in the autumn.
